RESIN-BOUND SPECIALISTS

A Smooth, Decorative Surface Tailored to Your Property

A resin-bound driveway is created by mixing clean, dried aggregate with specialist resin before the blend is carefully hand-trowelled. This produces an attractive, seamless surface without loose stones.

With many aggregate blends and border combinations available, resin works particularly well around modern homes, renovated properties, paths and detailed entrance areas.

WHY CHOOSE RESIN?

Contemporary Looks With Practical Benefits

Correctly specified resin-bound surfacing provides a refined appearance while remaining practical for everyday driveway and pedestrian use.

01

Natural Colour

Choose from warm, cool, light or dark aggregate blends to complement brickwork, render and landscaping.

02

Seamless Finish

The hand-trowelled surface creates a continuous appearance around curves, edges and detailed areas.

03

Permeable Option

When installed as part of a correctly designed permeable system, resin bound can allow surface water to drain through.

04

Easy Upkeep

No loose gravel means routine sweeping and occasional appropriate washing can keep the surface looking smart.

UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCE

Resin Bound vs Resin Bonded

The names sound similar, but the materials are installed differently and create different surfaces.

RECOMMENDED FOR SEAMLESS DRIVEWAYS

Resin Bound

Aggregate and resin are mixed together before application, then hand-trowelled to create a smooth finish with stone distributed throughout the layer.

  • Smooth, even appearance
  • No loose aggregate under normal use
  • Can be permeable with the correct system
  • Wide range of blended colours
TEXTURED SURFACE SYSTEM

Resin Bonded

Resin is applied to the base first and aggregate is scattered over it. The result has a rougher, more textured appearance and is not the same permeable system.

  • More textured, loose-stone appearance
  • Aggregate sits mainly at the surface
  • Generally non-permeable
  • Different use and maintenance profile
PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION

Preparation Controls the Finished Result

Resin surfacing needs a stable, correctly prepared base, suitable weather and accurate mixing and trowelling.

1

Site Assessment

We inspect the base, levels, drainage, access and intended use.

2

Base Preparation

A suitable new or existing base is repaired, cleaned and prepared.

3

Edges & Details

Borders, drainage and transitions are completed before surfacing.

4

Mix & Lay

Measured resin and aggregate are mixed consistently and spread promptly.

5

Hand Finish

The surface is trowelled evenly and protected while it cures.

BASE & DRAINAGE

Can Resin Go Over Your Existing Driveway?

A sound asphalt or concrete base may sometimes be suitable after inspection and preparation. A cracked, contaminated, moving or poorly drained surface cannot simply be hidden beneath resin.

We check the existing construction and explain whether local repairs, full base replacement or a new permeable build-up is the most appropriate option.

RESIN DRIVEWAY FAQs

Questions Customers Ask

Helpful answers before choosing a resin surface.

What is a resin-bound driveway?

Clean, dried aggregate is thoroughly mixed with clear resin before the mixture is hand-trowelled to form a smooth, seamless finish.

Is resin bound the same as resin bonded?

No. Resin bound is mixed before laying and can form a permeable system. Resin bonded is scattered onto resin and creates a rougher, non-permeable finish.

Can resin be installed over an existing driveway?

It may be installed over a suitable stable base after assessment. Cracked, moving or poorly drained bases may need repair or replacement first.

How do you maintain a resin driveway?

Sweep regularly and wash occasionally using an appropriate method. Clean spills promptly and avoid aggressive chemicals or excessive pressure.
